John A. Ross, founder of John Ross Racing Stable, started his career early in life working during childhood after school and during the summer for equestrian Gold medalist, Tom Gayford warming up horses before they went into the jumping ring.
He followed this experience as an exercise rider for Conn Smythe Stable, and working for Laurie Silvera, Mac Benson, Minshall Farms and Huntington Stud Farm.
His career as an elite thoroughbred trainer base at Woodbine raceway spans 23 years, and has just recently surpassed 500th career victories.

The mile and one-sixteenth Bison City, the second leg of the Triple Tiara for Canadian-foaled three-year-old fillies, was missing Academic, the shocking winner of the Woodbine Oaks last month, who had elected instead to contest the Queen’s Plate on July 5.
